Film Fashion: Benny & Joon

I think the first time I saw Benny & Joon, I was a freshman in high school. My brother and his girlfriend had rented it and watched it and left it at our house. I remember popping it in the DVD player, knowing nothing about it. I loved it from the opening credits (A big shout out to The Proclaimers on that one).

Years later I remember my mom saying, "I don't know why you guys like this one so much. It's so sad!" While parts of it are sad, I can think of two reasons right off the bat that a teenage girl would like this move: Johnny Depp & Aidan Quinn. I'm only half kidding.

One of the main reasons I loved this movie was the style. Are you shocked yet? It's a little difficult to pin-point exactly when this film takes place. There are so many vintage & classic elements throughout the film, lending a genuine timelessness to the story. If you haven't seen Benny & Joon before, I strongly encourage you to add it to your to-see list.

Two characters to watch for their style are Joon & Sam. Here is my interpretation of wearable Joon & Sam style. Enjoy!!
