Rick & I have been a part of a floating gourmet supper club for the past year. The members have shifted a little in that time, but the goal of the group is to cook delicious food, drink fantastic drink & enjoy the company of engaging companions.
We have pretty much stuck to a theme of country-specific food including Brazilian, German & Irish, just to name a few.
In May we had a lovely Moroccan meal on the patio of our good friends, Roger & Margaret. They really out did themselves, setting the mood with a lovely table, set under a canopy of trumpet vine.

Skipping June & July (due to travel & busyness) August's supper club's theme was Southern BBQ. Our hosts prepared pulled pork sandwiches, traditional cole slaw & smoked ribs. The other couple in the group prepared a Cobb potato salad as a side. We were tasked with making a dessert and I knew that I wanted to make something with peaches. While searching through Pinterest, I stumbled upon
this delicious looking cobbler.
Using Colorado grown peaches & eggs from our neighbor's chickens that we watched this weekend, I think I put together something pretty fantastic! To make the recipe my own, I added about a cup of pecans to the topping dough, a couple dashes of cinnamon & a splash of whiskey (unfortunately I didn't have any bourbon on hand), just for good measure.

To end the evening, Nicole provided wonderful dessert entertainment. She played Debussy's Clair de Lune & it was an enchanting end to a lovely evening! |
This little club is truly one of the highlights of our month. It's so wonderful to try such wide variety of food and I love the challenge of preparing food I would never I have the chance to. We are next in the rotation and we're still trying to decide what we want to make for our friends. Needless to say, we have A LOT to live up to!!
