If you've been around these parts for any amount of time, you know that I love me a deal. I'm always on the hunt for free or discounted items or experiences. Well, I thought that Tuesday was a free day at the Denver Botanic Gardens, so Rick took the day off & we braved the morning city traffic (we are not city people) to go see all the pretty flowers & plants! When we got to the entry desk, we learned that the botanic gardens have more than one location & the one we were currently at was not, in fact, having a free day.
Boy, was my face red.
Even though I felt pretty silly & disappointed about my mistake, Rick wasn't disappointed at all! He was positively overjoyed that we wouldn't have to fight the crowds, even if it meant that we had to pay full price. Always looking for that silver lining, kids. Payment snafu aside, we pretty much had a perfect day. The weather was warm, but not sweltering & so many of our favorites were in bloom! We missed the lilacs by about a month & a half, but the irises were out in all their glory!
If you get a chance to drop by the York Street gardens this spring/early summer, I highly recommend it! It is worth every penny! But if you're like me & you like a bargain, they will have an actual free day on Wednesday, June 14th.
