Today, August 17th, is National Thrift Store Day! Now, I think we've gotten a little carried away with arbitrary celebrations (for example, September 4th is National Macadamia Nut Day. I mean, come on!), this is a celebration I can definitely get behind! Not only is thrifting a great way to procure unique pieces of clothing for next to nothing, it's the best kind of shopping for the environment! Here are some great facts about thrifting to wet your appetite & get you in the mood to shop till you drop! If you are lucky enough to have a Savers thrift store in your town, you can learn about the campaign they're running to save 700 million gallons of water through one simple act: making your next "new" shirt a thrifted one.
If you live in the Greeley area, get ready! Several of our local thrift stores are having BIG sales! Be sure to check your other favorite thrift shops in town & let me know if you find other great sales! YOU KNOW I want to get in on that!
Goodwill: $5 off when you spend $25/ $15 off when you spend $50/ $50 off when you spend $100+
Salvation Army: $1 Women's, Men's & Kids Clothing (They generally also do a sale on red tags when they have this sale, but I'm not 100% on what they'll be doing tomorrow)
The Habitat for Humanity ReStore: While I don't think they're having a sale today, every Wednesday they will have the overflow storage area open for shopping. This is a great place to find furniture, homewares, books & building supplies!
However you choose to celebrate today, I wish you luck in your thrifting endeavors!
