4. The Adored Life & Alissa's Comments on Body Confidence-

I've been reading The Adored Life for about a year & a half. Early this week I found Alissa's blog post on her journey to not hating her thighs & I actually thought, "Girl, did you write this for me? Are you in my head right now?!" But I'm sure I'm not the only one who thought that. The truth is, Alissa is right when she says, "I have never, ever, ever heard a woman say one nice thing about their thighs. I have never heard myself say one nice thing about my thighs. You know what? I have held myself back for way to long because of the size of my thighs." 

You may or may not know that I have been on a bit of a fitness & mental health journey over the last year. I've been running, eating better & trying to keep a more positive outlook on life. But I'll be damned if I didn't actually think to myself only a few short weeks ago as the temps were rising, "I'll break out my shorts when I've lost just a little more weight." Then I started thinking about all the times I didn't do something because of insecurities. All the times I was waiting for the perfect moment or feeling to take part in something I really wanted to do. And I thought about how sad that is! And you know what? I put on some shorts I recently picked up at Goodwill, looked in the mirror & said, "You look FABULOUS, darling!" Maybe I'm not at my ideal weight. Maybe I won't ever be! But I'm getting stronger every day & I feel good! Being healthy was always my number one goal going into this past year & I think that I've accomplished that & I'm going to continue to accomplish it because this is a journey, after all! Huge thanks to Alissa for reminding me that I've only got one life to live & that life should definitely involve some cute shorts!
