Lore-
"Lore is a bi-weekly podcast about true life scary stories. The people, places, and things of our darkest nightmares all have real facts at their core. Each episode of Lore looks into a uniquely scary tale and uncovers the truth behind it.
Sometimes the truth is more frightening than fiction".
Aaron Mahnke hosts this clinical yet creepy program, focusing on some of history's scariest stories & urban legends. One of my favorite installments was about changelings & there is a thoroughly interesting episode about the famous Colorado establishment, The Stanley Hotel, which was the inspiration for Stephen King's The Shining. I quickly worked my way through all seventeen episodes, but word to the wise; you might only want to listen to one episode a day. Any more than that can make you feel a little hopeless about humanity. However, I find when things touch a nerve it's because they are touching on truth that we don't often want to hear.
A friend recently recommended Limetown to me & after listening to the first five minutes of the first episode & I was hooked. They are only three episodes in, so get in on the ground floor of this gripping audio drama for the podcast age.
Do you have any spooky podcasts I need to know about? What are you listening to this time of year? I would love to know!
