So, even though the temperature where I live is still hovering right around a million degrees, I can't help but daydream about fall clothes. I don't know if everyone feels like this, but I definitely think my fall/winter wardrobe is my superior wardrobe. You just can't beat layering skirts & dresses with opaque tights & boots! And when the temps start to drop & you don't quite need to wear a jacket yet, a lovely, oversized cardigan really fits the bill!
Even though it's been hard to think of a time when we might get to layer up, I've managed to use a little forethought to pick a few choice pieces up from the thrift store in the past couple of weeks that I'm pretty pleased with! I find that I'm drawn to chunky knits, waterfall style cuts & large pockets. Just don't stick your hands in those pockets without looking, unless you want a handful of used grandma tissue. Though I usually try to go for something that fits well in the arms & shoulders, but is long enough to cover my bum, there is nothing wrong with buying a great, men's sweater & rolling up the extra long sleeves. Maybe even something with patches on the elbows? If you're really ambitious (and talented with a needle & thread), you could always try altering one of your finds. Just remember that when buying from the thrift store, know your fabrics. There's nothing worse than buying a garment, bringing it home, washing it & realizing that you ruined your new purchase by improperly laundering it. Read the tags.
Just trust me.

I just love your style ! Chunky long cardigans are a favorite of mine with jeans and boots. Throw on some oversized sun glasses and a cashmere turtle neck sweater. Perfect ! Love your blog !
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you for stopping by! Oversized sun glasses are my jam! How did you know?! ;)
DeleteOversized glasses make a statement - they say you are chic and sophisticated, a little mysterious, but also a lot of fun. I think the look we are going for is casual classic. Effortless, yet planned. Add some hoop earings and three bangle bracelets. Perfect !
