Favorite Friday Favorites #1

I'm trying out a new format here at The Thrift Archives. I've been wanting to write about lots of different things in addition to thrifting for a long time but the fact that this was just a thrifting blog kept me from writing anything.

Then I thought, "It's your blog. It's your rules". Sometimes I talk to myself like that. Like I'm Dirty Hairy or something.  Let me know if you hate it, like it, love it or want more of it!

1. I've been feeling really nostalgic about shows from my childhood lately. This one in particular:

I'm planning on buying the entire series from Amazon. I've tried to talk myself out of it but it's just no use. Did anyone else watch 'American Gothic'?

2. Psycho Soprano on You Tube. Period.

3. Colin Meloy (of The Decemberists fame) wrote a lovely book called Wildwood, which his lovely wife, Carson Ellis, illustrated.

It's technically a young adult novel, but I think if you fancy the fantastic (and the well-written and drawn) you'll enjoy this! And BONUS, I just found out that Mr. Meloy recently released a sequel entitled 'Under Wildwood'. I just can't wait to read it!

4. It's coming on autumn and although the temperatures are still a little too high for my liking, I'm already thinking about cozy cardigans, jeans and flats. Don't you think a pair like this would make crunching through the autumn leaves that much more fun?

5. I have adored Miss Van's art since I first saw it in Juxtapose magazine when I was in college. The combination of the tough and girly, nature and sexuality caught my attention then and I've recently been loving her stuff all over again. Probably not for everyone. She does like to draw boobs a lot.

  1. Those flats!!! You should keep blogging about things you love. Because now I want to read that book and find those flats *and* have tea with you. :)
